GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICH

Ingredients

2 slices white or wheat bread
1 or 2 slices CHEESE (optional)
ADD-ONS (optional)
1 Tbsp. butter, softened; mayonnaise; or olive oil

Directions

  1. Top 1 bread slices with CHEESE. If desired, top with ADD-ONS.
    Add remaining bread slice. Spread or brush both sides of each
    sandwich with butter, mayonnaise, or oil.
  2. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add sandwich to skillet. Cook 2 minutes or until bottoms are golden.
  3. Turn sandwich over; cook 2 to 3 minutes more or until bottom is golden and cheese melts. (Adjust heat as necessary to prevent overbrowning.)

CHEESE
Choose one or two (or more!) cheeses for each sandwich.
Good choices are American, Brie, cheddar, Gouda,
Havarti, Monterey Jack, mozzarella, Muenster, provolone,
smoked cheddar, Swiss, and white cheddar.
