Ingredients
2 eggs, lightly beaten
½ cup fine dry bread crumbs
½ cup finely chopped onion
¼ cup milk
½ tsp. salt
½ tsp. black pepper
1 lb. bulk pork sausage
1 lb. ground beef
1½ to 2 cups Marinara Sauce (p.220) or purchased
marinara sauce
Directions
- Preheat oven to 375°F. In a large bowl combine the first six
ingredients (through pepper). Add sausage and beef; mix well.
Shape mixture into 36 meatballs (tip, Freezing Meatballs); place in
a shallow baking pan. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until meatballs are
done (160°F). - Using tongs, transfer meatballs to a 3½- or 4-qt. slow cooker.
Add Marinara Sauce; stir. Cover and cook on low 3 to 4 hours or
on high 1½ to 2 hours. Serve immediately or keep warm in cooker
on warm or low setting up to 2 hours.
